Luton Hoo Hotel Golf & Spa
"The surveillance system had to be practical, flexible, and sympathetic with the Grade I listed mansion and its surroundings. We gave iFacility the challenge, and their solution exceeded our expectations." Richard Biffen, Luton Hoo, Estate Manager
The Challenge
Luton Hoo needed a comprehensive surveillance system that would keep its guests, staff, buildings and grounds safe. iFacility identified that at least 150 security cameras needed to be installed. But how could they avoid major installation works, disruption, and damage to the aesthetics of the site?
The Solution
Richard Biffen, Estate Manager, explains; "iFacility proposed a competitively-priced IP surveillance system that matched our requirements perfectly. They led the project from the start, giving us advice on the types of cameras that we would need, and where they should be placed for comprehensive yet unobtrusive coverage. Installation caused minimal disruption, as all cameras are linked to our computer network."
The Benefits
Richard continues, "We can access every single camera quickly and easily, from any computer, as and when we want. Large screens in the security office display live images from every part of the 1,065 acre grounds 24 hours a day."
Crime prevention: "All entrances and exits are monitored, and in the unlikely event of a theft or intruder, we can rely upon the IP cameras to provide clear, high resolution images."
Site monitoring: "The system has proved invaluable for making sure that our extensive grounds are safe and well-maintained. For example, last winter we used them to check that all roadways were being kept clear of snow."
Day-to-day operations: "We can keep an eye on operations across the entire site quickly and easily, monitoring staff activity and checking that all systems are running smoothly."
Looking To The Future
Since the first restoration phase, Luton Hoo built Warren Weir, a self-contained private function and conference complex on the banks of the River Lea. Despite its distance from the main hotel, iFacility was able to add IP security cameras onto the same network, meaning that installation was swift and cost-effective.
