Wyke Farms
"This system is so good, that from my busy office, I can see exactly what is happening in multiple rooms, at multiple sites, all at the same time. I can effectively be on several factory floors at once - managing production, checking safety and hygiene procedures and monitoring employees." Greg Conway, Site Manager
Wyke Farms is the largest independent cheese producer and milk processor in the UK. After their existing surveillance system proved ineffective, they approached iFacility Group. They soon discovered that not only could iFacility's IP CCTV system provide superb site security, but that it was an essential management tool with a wide variety of uses.
Greg Conway, Site Manager at Wyke Farms, explains: "iFacility's system has already proved its worth in terms of security. Recently we had a break-in, checked the camera footage and were able to see two men breaking into our property. The pictures were so sharp that the police said it was one of the best recordings they had seen. We made photographs of the suspects and identified them very quickly. Within just a few days they were arrested and have since been found guilty and sentenced, largely due to our recording. Since then we've had no hesitation in installing three more cameras in previously uncovered areas, to further improve security."
The Benefits
iFacility's system is fully integrated with Wyke Farms' existing network. It allows them to monitor every part of their site, both externally and internally. Cameras are positioned in manufacturing rooms, corridors, offices and doorways. Just one camera, the size of a saucer, can see all four corners of a large room. The high definition picture allows the viewer to see exactly what is happening, with complete clarity.
Greg continues: "It has helped us in so many ways. I can see what is going on in any part of the factory from my office."
Health and Safety: "We can monitor health and safety across all sites remotely. For example, we can check that forklifts are being operated safely, and that employees are using designated walkways correctly. If an employee were to suffer an injury at work, the footage would provide vital evidence to prove or disprove their claim."
Food Safety Compliance: "Footage can be used to provide employee feedback and further training."
Staff management: "We've resolved several staff problems using camera footage, covering a wide array of issues such as car parking, missing property and inappropriate internet usage. This has saved us both time and money."
Production Control: "Although it will never replace face-to-face interaction, it does mean that at very busy times we can use the system to monitor activity. We can check that deadlines are being met without always having to be on the factory floor. We can also monitor when goods are picked up and delivered, which has proved extremely useful in resolving customer and supplier queries."
