Security Engineer Installation and Support
We are looking for a competent and experienced field engineer to perform installation and maintenance for commercial security systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and support a range of security systems in line with System Design specifications, industry standards, and best practices
- Work confidently on large, live customer environments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and system health checks across all installed security platforms
- Diagnose, fault-find, and resolve issues across access control, CCTV, Intruder and associated cabling and infrastructure
- Perform system upgrades, expansions, and replacements on existing live systems
- Accurately complete all installation, service, and maintenance documentation in line with iFacility standards before leaving the site
- Provide on-site system handovers and user training to customers where required
- Act as a technical point of contact on site, clearly communicating outcomes, next steps, and follow-up actions to customers and the remote support team
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of security products, software, firmware, and installation methods
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures at all times
- Participate in internal and external training, certification, and competency assessments
- Support, mentor, or supervise junior engineers when required
- Any other duties as required to carry out the Security engineer role
- Adhere to all the Company policies and procedures
- Working within the umbrella of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standards, ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management, ISO 27001 Information and Security Management Systems
Essential experience and Qualifications:
- Extensive experience installing and supporting security systems
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Access Control, CCTV, and Intruder/Alarm Systems, including commissioning and fault diagnosis
- Proven experience working with multi-manufacturer systems such as Hikvision, Hanwha, Paxton, Orisec (or equivalent)
- Confident working independently, making technical decisions with minimal guidance
- Strong understanding of system design documentation, drawings, and specifications
- High standard of workmanship with strong attention to detail
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
- Experience working across multiple sectors such as retail, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or critical environments
- Ability to pass security vetting, including DBS, credit checks, social checks and employment referencing
- Experience of staying away from home for training and other requests for the installation programme
- Able to travel within the UK for training and other work assignments
- Used to spending time travelling each day to various locations within the region or other areas as requested by management
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in security system installation, maintenance, and support
- ECS card /SSSTS (Ideally, or prepared to take the test)
- Full UK driving licence – essential
- Strong IT skills, including system software configuration and reporting tools
- Experience operating company vehicles, tools, and test equipment
- Willing to undertake IPAF, PASMA training if required by the business
